SightSonic 2008 |
|
SightSonic, based in York, is an annual digital arts festival that aims to present and promote artworks that have digital technology at the heart of the creative process. Presented over a weekend at venues across the city, SightSonic presents work by leading national and international artists whilst fostering the work of new and emerging artists. Kirsty sits on the steering group for the festival and is responsible for the Community and Education programme as well as the festival's professional development strand, the Artists Platform. The Platform sees emerging artists from across the UK present their work to the festival audience as well as to an invited panel of industry experts. The aim of the Platform is to allow emerging artists to show their work within a supportive environment with feedback from established artists and practitioners in the field. The 2008 Platform took place 14 - 17 March at York St John University and featured work by 12 UK and European artists. SightSonic 2008 featured work by Angie Atmadjaja, Maggie Hall, Jonathan Green and Template, an exhibition of work by 10 new media artists, curated by Joe Gilmore and Christopher Murphy. The festival saw live performances from People Like Us and Ergo Phizmiz, Kozo Inada anf Christophe Charles and Semiconductor. A series of artist-led seminars was held during the festival, led by festival artists and other leading practitioners. |
