Cycle Song is a brand new community choral opera commissioned as part of imove, a Cultural Olympiad programme in Yorkshire.

Cycle Song is inspired by the life and achievements of Albert 'Lal' White, the Scunthorpe steel worker who won countless trophies for cycling, including a silver medal at the 1920 Antwerp Olympics. Lal symbolises the spirit and determination needed to compete at the highest level, working in the back-breaking steel works then training to rise above the ordinary and carry the hopes of his town to the Antwerp Games.
